Starring: Bette Davis and Joan Crawford
This was very entertaining, very scary. Joan Crawford plays Miss Blanche Hudson, a woman supposedly crippled by her jealous, crazy sister, Miss Baby Jane Hudson. Miss Blanche is trying her best to cope with the delusions of Bette Davis, who is constantly reverting to her childhood acting days as she sings,
I've written a letter to daddy. His address is heaven above. I've written 'Dear Daddy, we miss you, and wish you were with us to love.' Instead of a stamp, I put kisses. The postman says, 'That's best to do.' I've written a letter to daddy, saying, 'I love you!'
This song is pretty catchy; I even composed my own lines to this melody. Pretty corny lines, it's amazing what you can create when you're truly bored. Yet, I was singing this stupid little tune for days.
I think, this movie accurately portrayed a disabled person. I wanted to scream at Blanche, though. Why would someone confined to a wheelchair ever live on the 2nd floor of a home, without a way of exiting the building in case of an emergency? There were a couple far-fetched concepts. I was thoroughly impressed by these two marvelous actresses. It's remarkable the emotions they displayed on the screen. I did not see the ending coming. Totally unpredictable and suspenseful! Great movie! :-)
