Charade

(1963, Romantic Comedy)Charade\
from amazon.com

Starring: Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, and Walter Matthau. Director: Stanley Donen .

One of my Top Picks. It is my opinion that this movie is Cary Grant's best movie. It is a scream. Grand is in his 60s while Hepburn is in her 30s, so the romantic dialogue was unique and original. There were several additions made to script to make it obvious that Cary Grant's character was being pursued by the younger, attractive Audrey Hepburn.

Hepburn won a British acting award, which led me to questions about her origin. I discovered that she was born in Brussels, Belgium as Audrey Kathleen Ruston. She was discovered modeling in Europe. First, movies in Europe, and then, she decided to try her luck in American films, and a star was born!

Audrey Ruston plays Regina perfectly, and the chemistry between the two actors is charming:

Regina Lampert: I already know an awful lot of people and until one of them dies I couldn't possibly meet anyone else.

Peter Joshua:  if anyone goes on the Bridge down critical list, let me know.

The clever sparring between this couple is engaging, and the audience becomes instantaneously involved in this mysterious Romance. We are second-guessing throughout this movie:

Regina Lampert: Of course, you won't be able to lie on your back for a while but then you can lie from any position, can't you?

This retort is delivered by Audrey with such comical flair! Wonderful movie! :-)
